Tips for Throwing a Successful Grad Party

'Tis the season for graduation parties. Whether you're throwing a grad party for your high school grad or your recent college grad, you want to make sure it's memorable for your child. Cerra's Market is here to provide you with some insight on how to prepare for a killer grad party.

Choose a Venue. While most people choose to host a graduation party at their home, there's always the option of booking or renting out a space, especially if you believe your home is not large enough for the number of guests you are expecting. Many people opt to rent a pavilion in a local park or reserve a private space within a restaurant. Either way, if you plan on hiring a catering company, make sure the catering company has the correct address.

Choose a Date. Don’t wait until the last minute to choose a date for your child’s graduation party. The later you wait on choosing a preferred day, the more likely that someone else will have a graduation party on that same day or weekend. Setting a date early ensures that guests put your event first before other obligations. Don’t forget to also set a rain date or at least have an indoor option in case it rains.

Create a Guest List. Create a guest list while you are working on choosing a date. Make sure your recent grad has some involvement in choosing who they want to attend their graduation party. Don’t forget to invite family members as well as classmates. One popular option is combining graduation parties with another classmate, so don’t forget to ask your grad which they prefer.

Choose a Menu. This is the fun party! Make sure your food menu is kid-approved. Keep in mind that some guests may have dietary restrictions or food allergies, so it’s important to have a variety of different food options available. At Cerra’s Market, our catering menu is extensive and perfect for graduation parties. From marinated meats ready to hit the grill to food platters, pasta salads and cold cut sandwiches, we’ve got delicious food that can feed any sized crowd.

Choose Entertainment. Graduation parties are usually extended over an entire afternoon, so don’t forget that guests will be coming and going. As a result, it’s important to keep the entertainment light but present. For instance, running a continuous slideshow of your grad and their friends is a great option as well as having some music playing in the background. For those hosting a party outside, don’t forget the lawn games.

Show your grad how much their accomplishments mean to you and the rest of your family by putting on a successful graduation party. Don't forget that Cerra's Market is here to help you by providing delicious catered food, plates, napkins, and plasticware. Contact us online today to order from our catering menu.
